"Matrix"
In order to expand students' knowledge about the structure and functioning of genes, study theoretical and applied issues of genetics and develop skills for solving problems in genetics and molecular biology at the Department of Natural Sciences under the guidance of senior lecturer, PhD Sadykova R.A., the grand opening and the first meeting of the student scientific circle "Matrix" took place. At the meeting of the circle, the students revealed the meaning of the name of the circle and presented the emblem, which is the result of preliminary collective work on discussing and choosing the name of the circle and developing the emblem. All members of the circle were awarded badges with the logo of the "Matrix" circle. During the meeting, the head acquainted the students with the purpose of creating and the work plan of the circle. Students with interest presented their work on the method of preparing nutrient media for laying experiments on genetics and phenotypic characteristics of mutational lines of fruit flies Drosophila melanogaster. The students also demonstrated the methodology of preparing a nutrient medium for Drosophila melanogaster and the supervisor shared photographs of the mutation lines Normal, White, Yellow, Cut, Vermillion, Bar, Vestigial, Cinnabar and Ebony of the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster during advanced training courses in molecular biology and genetics at the al-Farabi Kazakh National University. At the end of the meeting, the 4th year students of OP 6B01510-Biology symbolically handed over a red ribbon to the 3rd year students with the wishes of intellectual growth and development of the scientific circle "Matrix".
